Jolene Han

I was born in Shanghai, China in the summer solstice. I have been obsessed with drawing since a was a little girl, I started damaging the walls in my house with crayons and later drew on the textbooks in class. My parents were only supportive when I did not draw on my homework books. At the time drawing was the only way to express myself. To become a graphic design student was the very last thing I expected. When I first came to New Zealand, the art industry here attracted me hugely. After all the years at Unitec, I figured out graphic design is very different from drawing, it is more about understanding the graphic elements and typography. Producing work is fun, but sometimes it is finding joy amid hardship.
